About
Who is behind The Knead for Speed? Because I like to maintain some amount of anonymity, I won’t share my real first name. My middle name, however, is Marie, so that’s what I go by in cyberspace.
I’m also a teenager, albeit certainly not a typical teenager. I’m a competitive student athlete who both cooks and eats like a runner.
Delicious, healthy, and wholesome grub.
This blog is dedicated to experimentation and good-quality, yet off-the-beaten-path, recipes. You won’t find many so-called “normal” recipes here, as food preparation must pose some kind of novelty for me to invest the necessary time and effort.
One might also wonder, Is this girl a human garbage disposal? How on Earth can any single individual consume so many baked goods?
Really, there’s never a shortage of eager consumers. For one, my family quite delights in taste-testing. I take many creations to a nearby hospice where my grandmother recently died as well. I feel it’s so important to give back to the selfless nurses who helped her, as well as uplift members of other families going through a similar experience, and baking is my way of doing that.
When I’m not pouring over a textbook, cooking in the kitchen, or taking pictures with my beloved camera, one would most likely find me on the trails or on a track running repeats. Most would consider it self-torture hardcore dedication. What can I say, I really love to run!
To my readers: if, for any reason, you would like to contact me, I plan to set up a separate e-mail account for those purposes very soon. Until then, feel free to leave comments with your remarks, questions, or concerns!

I love your blog so far! You’re title is very creative too
Just found your blog, via a link to your Panda Bread. I love it. My Hubby was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 5 years ago. Through a lot of hard work on on both of our parts he has lost 60 pounds and has had his sugar levels normal for 4 1/2 years, through diet and exercise. I am always on the look out for deli sous/healthy recipes to satisfy his sweet tooth. I have found a couple of recipes for next weekend’s Cub Camp. We have 25 kids who have no idea how deathly they eat while at camps.
It’s wonderful to hear that you and your husband are working so hard to stay healthy. I bet the kids will love all your healthy recipe finds (and perhaps the Panda Bread, if you end up making it)!
Hi, I really like the blog so far! I was just wondering do you have calorie counts for your recipes? (For those of us who view running as pure torture and have to essentially self-bribe with shoes to get us to do any form of exercise). If you don’t, that’s okay – I can do it the hard way
Thanks

I don’t, but if you’d like calorie counts for specific recipes, feel free to request them in the comments section. I’d respond via e-mail since I know some readers would rather not see calorie counts.
Wow really unique and well-designed blog with excellent writing! I’ll be back….H
I am the producer of a local television show in Utah, called Good Things Utah. I would love to have one our our hosts make your recipe for peep bread. We’ll include a link on our website back to you. Let me know if that’s ok!

Of course you can feature the recipe on a show! By the way, I appreciate you asking.
Amanda, that’s absolutely okay! How cool.
Hey Marie,
Same question! We’re doing a roundup of peeps recipes on Endless Simmer and The Huffington Post food page and would love to include your monkey bread. Do you mind if I use the photo? We’ll link back to you for the recipe, just wanted to check if it’s OK if I use your photo.
Same response! Feel free to use the photo.
Hi Marie – Same question as 2 above. I would like to feature your Honey Bee Cornmeal Cupcakes on my blog (with an image from your blog and a direct link to your blog). I wanted to run it by you first.
Cheers, Leah
How kind of you to ask.
My answer: of course!
Delightful! It’s for a post next week and I can post (here) or send you the direct link for you when it’s up, if you like.
Leah
Oh, no need – I’ll just stop by next week. I’ll write it on the calendar.
Your blog is so inspiring! I am also a teen who is absolutely obsessed with baking and running!! I love them both to death! I am sure we would be best friends! Anyways I have been dying to create a baking blog for myself, and yours is really encouraging me to do so. Thanks and keep up your great work, both in baking and running
Aww, you’re so sweet! It’s great to meet you, Bailey (as well as anyone can meet someone via cyberspace). You really should start a blog – it’s so much fun and provides an opportunity to learn so much about baking, writing, running, and most importantly, yourself. If you do, let me know! I’d become an instant reader.

Of course! I’d love a feature. Plus, I’m always looking for ways to network within the food blogging community so your site sounds like a wonderful opportunity.
